GBA was retained by the City of Ottawa as a development manager on this sophisticated Public Private Partnership development. GBA oversaw all aspects of the $500 million mixed-use revitalization, including the management of complex legal and financial agreements, architectural design, engineering, and construction. This led to the transformation of an aging Ottawa icon into the thriving community Lansdowne Park is today.
GBA was required to manage a number of unique redevelopment components of the overall Lansdowne project. Most notable, GBA took on the task of relocating and restoring the historic Horticulture Building, next to the Rideau Canal, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This was in fact the largest building relocation in Canada’s history.
All aspects of Lansdowne Park’s transformation – programming, parking, transportation, transit, liaising with the National Capital Commission and Parks Canada – were managed by the GBA team.
July 9th 2014 Update – Lansdowne Stadium opens on schedule in advance of July 18th home opener for a preview by season ticket holders.
