GBA Group is the project advisory for the design, site preparation, finance solutions, procurement, construction and implementation of the development plan, as well as support for the communications and stakeholder outreach for the new Civic campus of The Ottawa Hospital.
The new development will function as the hub of a coordinated health care system featuring a state-of the-art contemporary hospital for Ottawa and 44 specialized inpatient and outpatient programs for Eastern Ontario, Western Quebec and Nunavut.
As one of Canada’s largest acute care learning and research hospitals, the new campus will provide a full range of specialized services, research, and education for those with the most complex injuries and illness, in partnership with the University of Ottawa.
For the thousands of staff, patients, and visitors on site every day, the site will be transit-oriented, with all buildings connected through accessible, enclosed walkways and convenient access for cyclists and pedestrians. The new Civic facility will feature extraordinary resilience against climate change, changing health care demands, outbreaks, and pandemics.
The design of the new facility will segregate public and staff access points, patient transfers, and service areas to minimize contact among the flow of people, goods, and services. This contemporary solution revolutionizes the organization of a modern hospital and introduces flexibility in space reconfiguration and adaptability in the future.
